Will Matched Against Grubnic in Tomorrow's Eliminations

BRAINERD, Minn. (8/12/06) -- Hillary Will, who drives the KB Racing-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel Dragster, ended qualifying for the 25th annual Lucas Oil Nationals in the top half of the qualifying field.

After smoking the Goodyears on her KB Racing LLC dragster in Friday's opening round of qualifying, Will returned in the late afternoon to run a 4.619-second pass, ending the day in the No. 6 qualifying position.

It was another tire-smoking pass in Saturday's first qualifying session, followed by a sound 4.674-second pass in the final run of qualifying. Her best pass of 4.619 seconds run in the cooler temperatures of Friday night placed the 26-year-old driver in the No. 10 position.

Looking to eliminations Will said with determination, "We are ready to win tomorrow!"

Will squares off against her Kalitta teammate David Grubnic, who drives the StriVectin-SD Top Fuel Dragster, when eliminations get underway tomorrow. Grubnic qualified No. 7 with an elapsed time of 4.577 seconds.

Will begins her quest for the Lucas Oil Nationals Top Fuel title on Sunday, August 13, with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. Time is local Brainerd time (CT) and subject to change at anytime.

Qualifying highlights for the 25th annual NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals can be seen on ESPN2 on Saturday (August 12) from 6 to 8 p.m. ESPN2 will also air same-day television coverage of eliminations from 7 until 10 p.m. (Sunday, August 13). The elimination show repeats early Friday morning (August 18) from 3-5 a.m. Also, tune in to NHRA2Day on ESPN2, the weekly show that gives you the latest information about the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Kalitta Motorsports (www.kalittaracing.com), owned by the legendary drag racer and successful businessman Connie Kalitta, will field, in addition to Will's dragster, three additional nitro fuel cars - two Top Fuel dragsters and a Funny Car - in 2006 in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Doug Kalitta will drive the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster, David Grubnic will handle the driving duties on the StriVectin-SD Top Fuel Dragster and Scott Kalitta moves from Top Fuel to the Kalitta Air Funny Car for 2006.
