Richmond, Sunday: Funny Car pro, Tim Wilkerson had high hopes for his Levi, Ray & Shoup Chevrolet Monte Carlo today. Even though he had to go up against the No. 1 qualifier, Eric Medlen in the first-round of racing action at the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals, he was looking forward to a good outcome.
The two cars left the starting line with one goal in mind, but Wilkerson smoked the tires early in the run and coasted to a 13.356, as Medlen went on to post a 4.831.
A dejected Wilkerson didn't have much to say about his run. He summed up the pass in just three words.
"We messed up. It's just that plain and simple. We made the wrong tuning decisions and it cost us. What more can I say."
