Wilkerson looking forward to Richmond action

RICHMOND, Prerace: With only three races remaining, the 2007 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series is nearing the end. And yet, Funny Car pro, Tim Wilkerson is anxiously looking forward. He's looking ahead to what the remainder of the year has in store for his Levi, Ray & Shoup Chevrolet Impala SS and he's already preparing for next year.

The Springfield, Ill. favorite is coming off probably his best outing this year at the last event held at the Texas Motorplex. Wilkerson captured the No. 1 qualifying berth, laid down the fastest mph of the meet and his talented team won the Full Throttle Pit Crew Challenge. On top of all that, Wilkerson's Levi, Ray & Shoup hot rod made six strong, clean runs down the quarter-mile. So, needless to say, Wilk is looking to continue their hot streak this week at the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park.

"We're looking forward to Richmond so we can see if we can continue to look like we know what we're doing," said Wilkerson. "If it's cool, it's going to be fast there. They've ground the track and it's going to be smooth. So, I think with how our car ran in Dallas, we should be all right. So, we're looking forward to getting there and trying our best. We got another blower this week and we're kind of excited about that, because right now we've only got two good ones. A while back, we got a second one and we've gotten it to match our original good one. So, with this new one, we might actually have three that act the same and that would really help our cause. Our goal is to have four good blowers, so we can put on a fresh blower every run. That would really make the car a lot more consistent. Right now, we're depending on the thing to do the same thing second round that it did in the first, and that just doesn't happen.

"So, it's all looking good for our Levi, Ray & Shoup team. I'm excited for the remainder of the year, and next year, and hopefully we'll can continue to look good."
