Wilkerson hopes to have the power for sea level

Seattle, prerace: The Schuck's Auto Supply NHRA Nationals at Pacific Raceways, outside of Seattle, is the second stop on the Western Swing of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series tour. Racing at sea level and nestled among the tall pie trees in the grandeur of majestic Mt. Rainer, Pacific Raceways presents Funny Car pro, Tim Wilkerson, a completely different set of conditions than he faced in the mile-high attitude last weekend in Denver.

Wilkerson had too much power in his Levi, Ray & Shoup Chevrolet Monte Carlo last week, a factor that teams would normally covet, but not in the thin air at Bandimere. So, it was a deterrent for Wilkerson, as he was not able to make the show. This weekend, with completely different conditions, power may be just the ticket to help Wilkerson show what he has in his bag of tricks.

"When you have had a bad weekend like we had in Denver," said Wilkerson, "all you can do is put it behind you. We plan to go to Seattle and see if our power works there. We usually qualify well there and it certainly would be great if we can again this year. And we really would like a chance to try our best on Sunday."
