This was just posted about NASCAR which NHRA usually follows. I hope they can find someone to pay for for this BOONDOGGEL. The only one that could possibly sponsor this thing would be NoDose. I can guarentee that what you all saw in the "First Time Nitro" thread will not happen with this experience if it comes to Drag Racing. Coffee and high doses of Caffeine will be the stimulant of choice.

I find it funny how everyone is losing their minds instantly jumping to the conclusion that these are going to replace the cup cars even though its clearly a new series, although the same thing happened on the thread here when that all electric Cobra Jet was introduced and people automatically jumped to the conclusion that they are replacing fuel cars. While I agree you lose a major in-person experience factor in noise It will be interesting to see how electric cars can race for a constant 30 minutes at high speeds.

NASCAR is being proactive and following the green house gases and global warming trend as put forth by the dummycrats. There are several bills pending on both state and national levels to do away with all gas powered vehicles by 2035.

Even if at some point in time all major transportation became all electric, wouldn't it make sense for motorsports to be exempt? I mean if you add up all the emissions produced by all the different racing series, I imagine it has to be an extremely tiny percentage of what we produce. 2035 isn't that far away, can you imagine how many automotive related businesses would be done away with? And I still would like to know the reality of how green all these battery produced cars really are, starting with the mining of lithium all the way to what happens when batteries need to be disposed of.

richard petty w/o his big hat!? is he running for office or what? he'd fit rite in in D.C.

Understand what your saying but I sure do disagree with your aspect of the interesting part. I would not watch a single second of life size slot car racing - ever.

If you want to see what Top Fuelers and Funnies would be like if they were silent, simply watch NHRA.TV. The sound creates drama, silence makes you go to sleep
The throttle whacks in the pits would be awesome! I could easily watch a warm up in the pits without tears in my eyes. Lol

Huh?

Formula E has become a significant deal with many major automobile manufacturers with races that run in many different venues across the world.
They see large crowds and, while not the noise level I prefer, put on a great open wheel racing show. Completely different metrics of performance, strategy, and driving from other open wheel racing groups.

There is even an offroad series that is all electric.

Like it or not EV's will be part of automobile racings future! That being said, traditional racing is doing well across the globe and will so for some time!

"Adapt or die!"

I look at it as another avenue for people to become interested in something and get out off the couch. I like ICE but if my son would of been into electric I would of supported him. He became a computer geek and does not like anything mechanical.
This is partially the reason some racing is failing to bring in new blood. I see it where the old guys make fun of a car running 12.50's. Instead of making fun of the kid, take him under your wing and teach him to go faster.
I know I try to do that. In my neighborhood I am the old guy with the tools and the kids come to me to fix their bikes. Hey if one of them continues on and does the same the world wins.

I seem to be posting this a lot on social media lately, but I’ll do it again here.
The current negative attitude towards EVs reminds me A LOT of the early 2000s era when the four/six/rotary/import scene was getting a following. We had the same voices declaring that no-one wanted to listen to those engines, how people came to the track to hear V8s. As a result the sport was obsessed with partitioning the imports away as some kind of curiosity rather than something mainstream.
When we have low nine-second capable EVs, and they will be in the eights soon enough, people who own those vehicles are going to need a place to safely experience that acceleration. Drag racing is in a prime position to get those people as customers.
Will EVs replace nitro? Of course not. But just because we have one, doesn’t mean the other can’t exist.
