Welcome Back Topeka!

Also I noticed that Indy is now moved into the Countdown. So now the Countdown has 7 races in it instead of 6. At least thats how the schedule looks on nhra.com.

Web schedule is all screwed up. Just inserted Topeka but it moved Indy into countdown which we know is not true. Plus it has Traxxas races at Brainerd and Pro Bike battle at Denver. Just a few errors.

Saving the Topeka facility is a huge victory. Nobody is racing to build new tracks these days, so preserving what we have is extremely important.

I can't say as I blame them... The last person that did has caught nothing but hell from a lot of the fans.

4 wide is cool once a year my only complaint is they could have designed track better so my fat a $$ didn't have to jack knife those long cars around that corner lol......glad to go to Topeka again make sure scooter is full of gas

That's because of the four wide and the poor track surface. They got what they deserved and yet they still try to push the 4 wide on the fans.
I know why the fans were complaining i have been going there ever since it was built, but, my hats off to Bruton for not throwing in the towl and fixing the problem with the track instead. As far as the 4-wide, he is not shoving anything down anyones throat...he puts on a race once a year for the 4-wide fans, and one for the 2-wide fans. It's up to us fans to decide which one we are interested in. I personally enjoy the 2-wide myself, but it sure doesn't bother me to see some of the fans enjoy the 4-wide. The guy allows us 6 races a year to choose from for our entertainment pleasure.

Never been to Topeka myself, but I'll take a poorly designed track over a bull dozed one any day. We need all the tracks we can get, it's not so easy to build new ones anymore.

If you have a desire to see about the worst design for a dragstrip you should go to Topeka. Except for Dallas it's closer than any other national event track and I've been there less often (once) than almost any other track on the tour. I am glad it survived but it's just not a track I appreciate or will attend.

The walking isn't bad for me as I don't mind walking at the races, but it sucks for my dad. Once he gets to the stands, he a$$ plants. I get up and wander the pits. I like Topeka simply because it is my home track (lived in Olathe for years, Topeka is not that far away). But now I have to adopt Epping as my home track as it is 1.5 hours away.

From a racer and TV standpoint Topeka is great. From a spectator standpoint, for drag racing it is far from ideal .... but the track surface it great, there is plenty of room, and with some upkeep we will be happy to continue racing there.

Most people need more exercise ... Topeka is a great track to get exercise and watch a race! For those less mobile I can understand a little frustration. Make sure the pit vehicles have plenty of fuel, and at the double divisional in August make sure your generators are ready to try to make hell freeze over (or just drop below 90 inside the rv/trailer!).

True as far as tracks go, but the fact of the matter is NHRA has too many races! With the sponsor environment drag racing is up against, 23-24 races is way to many!
