V&H burning the midnight oil

It'll be funny hopefully watching them go from the penthouse to the outhouse all next year. :D

Just take a Buell engine, and make a couple of cosmetic changes, and brand it H-D. The Buell is already proven!

Whether they win, lose or dominate; at least now they have to play by the same rules as the rest of the class next year. Funny how much their performance "suffered" considering the 30 lb weight gain on the V-rods....

It's amazing how fast History is forgotten. It wasn't that long ago the V-Rods dominated the class with the Two Valve Short Push Rod configuration. They ran top of the class numbers competitive by todays standards. I'd make an educated guess that the parts still exist. I can remember Matt Smith, here on Nitromater, while running a Buell, wanting to buy the H-D Two Valve inventory when the switched to Four Valve. They're not exactly starting from a white sheet of paper.
While the rules are more equitable, and the races hopefully more interesting, VHR will remain the team to beat.

They might not come out of the gate smoking next year, but if history is any indication of future performance the cream or $$$$$$$$$$$$$ will rise to the top when the big check and trophy are up for grabs.

This push rod length issue concerns me, will the HD 2 valve engines still have an advantage in being able to run a shorter pushrod than is allowed for the the Buell's?

I hope not because that's a significant advantage, not as much as the 4 valves but this time around I was hoping that we had a truly level playing field.

Minimum of 8" pushrods: http://www.competitionplus.com/drag...-to-nhra-pro-stock-bike-engine-specs-revealed

Look to the NHRA and Glen Gray. Do they actually grow a backbone and ethics? Only time will tell. 2012 was a year that showed the personal character of the NHRA and as a fan and I think most would agree, I felt truly ashamed. Then to turn a blind eye for 8 months and try to brainwash everyone about parity...absurd.

No doubt they will be good.. If you throw enough money at something you can make anything fast... And we all know they have the money to do that... Plus they get to make a brand new motor again... The buell motor is the same since 2003 with no mods since... But for what I understand the buell gets to move there cam chest up 2 inches to make our pushrod go to 8 inches... That will help us alot and should gain 2 to 3 hundred RPMs which means more speed... And talked to George Smith (owner of S&S) day after rules were out and the Buell guys should see the new cam chest sometime in Jan. 2013...

"The factory V Rod is a four-valve dual overhead cam engine," Krawiec said. It comes from the factory that way. So the 800-lb gorilla in the room said, why can't anyone else run it?

And his 800 pound buddy said, "using that logic, Larry Morgan should be allowed to run a Whipple supercharger."
