Unfortunate Circumstances Curtail Plans for Kalbones Racing (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Just as the finishing touches were being applied to the Laurie Cannister driven Kalbones Racing Alcohol Funny Car for its NHRA debut later this spring, team owners Kevin and Wendy Sims received a devastating phone call that would bring the team to their knees.

Long time business partner and friend, Mike Couch passed away March 6, due to complications of an illness that he was diagnosed with just a few short months ago. His memorial service took place last Friday, March 13.

Couch was known well among the IHRA Funny Car ranks for his years of racing with several drivers, including being instrumental in forming the most recent team for Kalbones Racing that went on to win the IHRA Alcohol Funny Car Championship in its first full year of competition.

In addition to his work with the race team, Couch was also responsible for many of the day-to-day business operations for team owners Kevin and Wendy Sims and their businesses back home at KW1, LLC.

At this time all racing operations are on hold, as the team mourns the passing of their dear friend. Plans are for the team to return to competition once reorganization is completed.
