Brown, who advanced to his third consecutive final, committed a red light foul against Andrew Hines and in the process lost the point lead that he had re-captured last weekend in Brainerd, Minn.
The New Jersey native is now three points behind Hines with four Pro Stock Motorcycle races remaining in the 2006 season.
"I just pushed the ("Christmas") tree too hard," said a dejected Brown. "My U.S.
Army team gave me a great Suzuki today and I just couldn't seal the deal. We'll now have to look forward to the race at Indianapolis in a couple of weeks. You can't change history, unfortunately."
Brown's teammate, Angelle Sampey, who lost in Sunday's first round, will head to the next race holding fourth-place in the standings, 115 points out of the lead.

After putting Clay Millican on the trailer yesterday in round one, Schumacher couldn't quite get past Kalitta on Monday morning.
The Chicago native posted a quicker elapsed time than Kalitta (4.592-seconds to 4.599-seconds), but the latter was a bit better reacting to the green light at the starting line (.058-seconds to Schumacher's .086-seconds).
"It was a good old fashioned drag race," said Schumacher afterwards. "We'll bounce back, I guarantee you that. With six races to go, there's plenty of time to complete our mission of winning a third straight title."
The loss to Kalitta broke a string of five straight final round appearances for Schumacher. He's now in second-place going into the prestigious Mac Tools U.S.
Nationals at Indianapolis over Labor Day weekend, 136 points behind Kalitta.
"We're going up to Indy to test on Tuesday and Wednesday, so we'll be ready to go in two weeks," he added.
