With the exception of the NHRA Safety Safari, why are there not safety specifications for ALL aspects of track safety? There are suggestions and guidelines, but NOWHERE in the NHRA rules, track operators handbooks, insurance comapny regs, etc are there specifications which MUST be complied with. An exception might be grandstand construction, and the "fall and trip hazards". The insurance inspection checklist, under fire/rescue/EMT's states "AS REQUIRED"but not much else.
There certainly isn't any specs on sandtrap or safety net design, construction...OR maintenance. There isn't any on fire equipment, training or staffing.
Really folks...this is NOT re-inventing the wheel...Let's all get this addressed at our own tracks, in our own Divisions BEFORE the next tragedy
