Press conference featuring Steve Torrence set for April 2 to announce ‘Cruise for Success’ – Qualifying students have opportunity to win brand new Chevy Cruze
After Kilgore College announced its plan to roll out eight-week classes in the fall, the college is adding even more of an incentive for students to attain a higher education and garner success with a chance to win a brand new car.
KC graduate and NHRA top fuel dragster Steve Torrence will be on the Kilgore campus Tuesday to help announce “Cruise for Success,” a program that will allow qualifying KC students to earn points throughout the school year with a chance to win a brand new Chevy Cruze, sponsored by Patterson Chevrolet Kilgore.
The press conference featuring Torrence is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Lee Mall/Mike Miller Plaza in front of the library.
“We couldn’t think of anyone better than Steve Torrence to help us kick this event off,” said Dr. Brenda Kays, KC President. “Steve is the perfect example of someone who has worked diligently, attained an education, persevered and has succeeded at the highest level in his chosen career field. He is a true role model for our students as they persevere and achieve success with their educational and career goals.”
The Cruise for Success incentive program is the KC’s way of encouraging student success by giving students an opportunity to win prizes as a reward for doing things proven to increase overall success in college.
Beginning in August, qualifying KC students can earn points for monthly prizes culminating with one grand prize – a Chevy Cruze – to be awarded in April of 2020.
“We are so thankful for Patterson Chevrolet Kilgore’s commitment to this program and the success of our students,” Kays said. “In April of 2020, one hard-working (and lucky) student will be rewarded with this beautiful new car. None of this would have been possible without our partnership with Patterson Chevrolet in Kilgore – a true community partner dedicated to the success of our students.”
Details about the contest, eligibility requirements and instructions on how KC students can earn points are located at www.kilgore.edu/cruiseforsuccess.
