Top Sportsman's L&M Motorsports having successful year

(May 29, 2008) Monroe, NC - L&M Motorsports is comprised of one team race car, and two very capable drivers. Co-owned by Jay Marshall and Bob Luttrell, the pair shares seat time while driving their attention-getting 54 Studebaker. The car was built in 2006 by Jay Marshall's own enterprise, MRC Race Cars in Monroe, NC. The car has been spotted all over the southeast, including IHRA National Events, divisional races as well as heads-up leagues such as Mad Dawg, just to name a few.

Jay Marshall handles driving duties while competing in national events and various Quick-8 races, while Bob Luttrell takes his turn in the Studebaker at divisional meets along the IHRA circuit. Always a crowd favorite, the L&M Motorsports Studebaker has received a recent award for best engineered, as well as a feature article in Drag Race Action magazine.

Motivating the Studebaker to low 4 second 1/8 mile elapsed times is an in-house 632 big block Chevy that was built by Jay's father, "Big" Jay Marshall six years ago. The engine features conventional Chevy Dart heads, with a single 4 barrel Holley carb. "With only routine yearly maintenance this piece has proven to be a reliable and flawless motor," commented Jay Marshall.

L&M Motorsports has found early success in 2008 with Bob Luttrell piloting the Studebaker to a semi-final finish in the season-opening divisional race at Rockingham. At the following event, Luttrell followed that effort by going several rounds at Farmington Dragway. Competing in the IHRA Summit Pro-Am Series, Luttrell and the Studebaker are currently 5th in points in the southeastern "Raiders" division.

This weekend, L&M Motorsports will travel to nearby Mooresville Dragway for the third stop on the 5 race Pro-Am schedule. Both Jay Marshall and Bob Luttrell have a long and successful affiliation with Mooresville Dragway, and each have experienced great success in everything from bracket racing to Top8Doorslammer events. Bob has picked up many bracket wins at Mooresville, while Jay never once failed to qualify for the competitive 4.70 class. "Mooresville is a track that you can count on to be good all day long, but it's also one of the toughest places to win," says Bob Luttrell.

Luttrell and Marshall are very optimistic about this weekend's event, and are hopeful for a great showing at Mooresville. Jay Marshall has 20 years experience in building race cars ranging from Street Rods to Pro Mods.
