GLENDORA, Calif. (Sept.12, 2006) – The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Awards Ceremony will be held at The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006. It is the third consecutive year that NHRA will crown its POWERade world champions at the scenic resort near Palm Springs .
The ceremony, which will take place the day following the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at historic Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, will be highlighted by the crowning of the 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series world champions in all four professional categories (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle). More than $3 million in awards will be given out during the evening as drivers finishing in the NHRA POWERade Top 10 in each category also will be honored.
The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Awards Ceremony will feature a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. followed by a formal banquet at 7 p.m., awards presentation at 8 p.m. and an after-party.
The Westin Mission Hills Resort is renowned for its championship caliber golf, world-class service and incomparable amenities that include a Pete Dye Golf Course plus the only Gary Player Signature Course in Southern California, four pools, seven lighted tennis courts and a health spa, making the experience a true getaway for the NHRA racing community after a long season and hard-fought championship chase.
