Me, but I'm just a peasant.

I'll be there as well. I'm just a peasant too, but I really look forward to this event and the Hod Rod Reunion at Bakersfield/Famoso. Every year, we lose more and more of our drag racing heroes, so enjoy seeing them while you can. Steve Gibbs and his daughter Cindy do a good job with this event, and they also have a mid-day autograph session where you can see all the famous faces at one time. I'm not an autograph guy, but I like seeing everyone and getting some pictures during the autograph session.

my son has convinced me to attend next year. We're in Virginia and have ventured to the March Meet once....is this a 1 day deal? racing or just a car show?

A few shots I took this weekend. Starting with the funny cars.

This actually a 3 day event with Friday night gathering and introduction of the honorees, Saturday that goes all day and Sunday wrapping up about 3 as everyone starts looding up and heading home.

I remember all those cars. Are some recreations? Saw Pedregon's AA/ Fuel Coupe in the background. I know that one is a recreation. Wow, great photos.

I'm always amazed these old cars still exist. Saw so many of them run back in the day. 2 cars that stand out to me: Dye & Hampton Two Bad, a Fiat coupe with twin SB Chevys on gas. No real class for it so it ran Top Gas at local tracks. Just really made an impression on me around 1962. The other was Don Garlits first back motor car, that I saw at Lions in 1971. Wow, that car really changed drag racing. It was so strange to see it, altho I'd seen other back motor cars before that. Anyhoo, that's my story for the day.

Found these photos on Bang Shift, so thought I'd share. Some cool, original AA/FA pics.
