Bazemore Reading Notebook

Last weekend in Brainerd , Minn. , Bazemore qualified his Matco Tools dragster third with a 4.582-second E.T. He advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Morgan Lucas.

Bazemore remains seventh in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel standings. He hold a 52-point lead over eighth-place driver David Grubnic and leads Melanie Troxel by 54 points as three drivers vie for the final two spots in the Countdown to the Championship.

Bazemore earned his 30th career pole this March. He became just the 15th driver in NHRA history to earn poles in both Top Fuel and Funny Car. He has an average starting position of 6.63 this year. He has an average starting position of 9.93 in 15 career races at Maple Grove Raceway.

Bazemore did not compete at Maple Grove Raceway last fall.

He earned his 21st career pole at the Reading race in 2002 when he drove his Matco Tools Funny Car to a run of 4.806 seconds at 318.69 mph. He also is a two-time finalist at Maple Grove Raceway (2001, ‘02).
