Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team are thrilled to announce they will be backed by Knoll Gas – TORCO Racing Fuels for the 2007 race season once again. The 2-time Division and 5-time UDRA World Championship team, which concluded their final National event of the 2006 season with a runner-up finish, is excited to get back out on the track and pick up where they left off.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are to get the 2007 season underway. And to have Evan, Latrell, and the Knoll Gas – TORCO Racing Fuels family behind us again this year is great. We really couldn’t be out here doing all of this if it wasn’t for the support of those amazing people. We are going to try to get out of this cold Midwest weather and head down to Florida for the first couple of races. It would be great to start off strong and get this car in the winner’s circle for all the people who support our operation,” said Thacker.
During the 2006 season, Thacker finished 3rd in the always competitive Division 3 points chase. The Team also finished in the top 20 nationally and went to 3 final rounds throughout the year. The highlight of the season came in June when Thacker competed against the best of each division in the Jeg’s All-Star event and won the prestigious race for the second time in his career.
“Hopefully, we will be able to improve on some of our marks from last year. I have a great group of guys working on this unique Spitzer Top Alcohol Dragster and they give me a good shot to win every time I go out on the track. With our major sponsor Knoll Gas – TORCO Racing Fuels behind us and the additional support of great companies like Hoosier Tires and Lucas Oil we have all the pieces in place. Now it is just a matter of getting them in the right spots.”
The Rapid Transit Race Team will get its season underway at the Bradenton Divisional Event February 16th thru the 18th.
