The Rapid Transit Race Team sponsored by Knoll Gas – Torco Racing Fuels will head down to Atlanta this weekend to take part in the NHRA Southern Nationals. The team is coming off a good performance in Gainesville a few weeks ago and is hoping this will be their breakthrough weekend.
“We have had quite a bit of time off since our last race in Gainesville and we are looking forward to getting back out on the track to see what this car can do. We have spent a lot of time trying to get this car to run up to its capabilities and hopefully that hard work is going to pay off this weekend,” said driver, Marty Thacker.
The Team is coming off a couple of quarterfinal finishes; in each they were also the last blown car standing. This weekend they are hoping the 2 time divisional championship team will be the last car standing at the end of the day on Sunday.
“We continue to make adjustments to the car hoping that it will respond the way we want. So far this year we feel like it is running well; we’ve just had a hard time getting around the A-Fuel guys. Hopefully, this weekend will be different. We would love to get this car in the winner’s circle for Evan and Latrell and the rest of the Knoll Gas- Torco Racing Fuels family.”
Qualifying for the event begins on Friday at 2 PM and continues at 5:30 that evening. The last shot will come at 1:30 on Saturday. Final eliminations begin at 4:30 PM on Saturday and continue Sunday morning following the pro session.
