Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team are headed down to Reynolds, Georgia this weekend for their final event of the season. The Team is currently sitting in 5th place in the National standings and could move up as high as 3rd with a strong showing this weekend. The Knoll Gas – Torco Racing Fuels sponsored car is coming off their biggest win ever at the U.S. National; they are hoping to capitalize on the momentum and bring home the Wally.
“This will be our 18th and final event for 2007 and it will be approximately 4 months before we race again. We have a winter of working in the shop without the reward of taking her to the track, so we need some fuel to last us till the 1st race of 2008. And we would like to move up in the points as well. Depending on how we perform and how a few others do at Reynolds and Pomona, we could finish the year anywhere between 3rd and 7th in the National points battle. Considering the performance advantage of the A-Fuel cars and the bad ignition parts we had early in the season, a 3rd place finish would be very satisfying to the whole Rapid Transit crew,” said Thacker.
“Speaking of this crew, I can't brag enough about these guys and gals. Through the good times and bad, they have done whatever it takes to prepare this Knoll Gas - Torco Racing Fuels dragster to race. Those that know me know that that's not always the easiest thing to do. We have it ready for this weekend, so we're heading to Georgia to swing for the fences. Hopefully, we can bring home one more win this year for Evan, Latrell, Brian, and the rest of our support group at Torco. They deserve it!”
Qualifying will begin on Saturday at 3 PM. The second and final shot will come at 7 PM. Eliminations begin at 1PM on Sunday and will continue throughout the day.
