Team Mopar® Driver Johnson Exits in First Round at Joliet (1 Viewer)

Team Mopar® NHRA Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson exited in the first round of the 14th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill., on Sunday, July 10.

Johnson qualified in the No. 8 position, which paired him against Roger Brogdon, the No. 9 qualifier, in the first round. Johnson got off the line first with a reaction time of 0.051 to his opponent’s 0.065, before getting very loose and out of the racing groove, with Brogdon taking the win.

Rookie sensation Vincent Nobile, who uses engines from Johnson’s J&J Racing shop, qualified 10th at Joliet and advanced to the quarterfinals. In the opening round, Nobile downed Greg Stanfield with a run of 6.669-seconds at 207.08 mph with a reaction time of 0.028 seconds to his opponent’s 6.674/206.04 with a nearly identical 0.029 reaction time. Nobile's margin of victory was 0.0064 seconds, which equates to about 21 inches on the track.

Nobile found himself up against Jason Line in the quarters. Nobile got off the line first with a reaction time of 0.035 to Line’s 0.059. The New York native ran a 6.688/206.45 and wound up falling by a mere 0.0040 seconds at the finish line.
