BURLINGTON, ONTARIO (August 20, 2007) – When the new Home Depot opens this week on the border of Burlington and Oakville, Kopp Motorsports will be on hand to take place in the grand opening festivities.

Rick Kopp, owner and driver of the Team Husky Top Dragster, will be at the new store along with his 2000-horsepower drag racing car.

“We enjoy meeting people at the Home Depot openings,” said Kopp. “It’s a great way to mingle with people, show them the dragster, explain about the racing, and help promote our sponsor Husky Tools.”

The store’s grand opening is scheduled for August 23, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. It is located at 3300 South Service Road West.

Kopp, a drag racing veteran, has introduced a new car for 2007, a car he has already driven to over 217-mph in the quarter mile. The team races at tracks throughout Ontario during the racing season.

Along with wrenching and maintaining the race car, the Burlington-based team also works with hammers and saws with the local Habitat for Humanity organization, and was recently part of a work project building a semi-detached home in Burlington.

“We think the Habitat for Humanity work is important,” said Kopp. “We as a team want to give back to our community, and help those less fortunate.”

Also taking part will be Shawna Woodstra of Burlington and her Junior Dragster. The 16-year old is one of the top-runners in this level-entry series, and is part of Team Husky.

The Team Husky Top Dragster will run at several drag race events for 2007, including several International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll - Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series events. The team will also be a highlight at several Home Depot locations as part of the Team Husky promotional tour across Ontario.

Owned and operated by Rick Kopp of Burlington, ON, Kopp Motorsports fields a Top Dragster class car in drag racing events, including several in International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) competition. For 2007, Kopp has stepped up his racing efforts significantly with a new chassis and engine. With the support of Husky Tool, Matcom Industrial Installations, and Eclipse Imaging, Kopp plans to be a dominant force in racing this season under the Team Husky banner.
