I love PTW, especially since I've been doing OK lately :) Huge thanks to PJ for making it happen!!!

But one thing bugs me, and that's the late Friday deadline. Some of us can't get to it late in the week, so we make picks early in the week. Others get the benefit of seeing one or more rounds of qualifying before picking.

So, in 2009, my suggestion is that the rules be changed to close it once the first car in any pro class has started a qualifying pass (in real time). Another option would be to close it Saturday night (Sunday night at Indy) after all qualifying has been completed, but that still disadvantages those who pick early.

It's kind kind of like Vegas. If you go to the Station casinos today, you'll get one set of odds. But if you go in on Saturday night, the odds will have all changed. Which you prefer might be a matter of opinion...

Just my thoughts. Yours?

Depends on how you play the game...

I don't play bikes, running or not... I dabbled in gas floppers early in the year...
right now, since the reset, I'm picking the same three pipe racks, and two floppers... I pick as soon as PJ starts the post...

but that's just me...

I don't care if the cut off is 10:55 am Sunday morning, it's not gonna change my picks... and yeah, I've been nailed by DNQ's this year...

i've got an idea - i'm gunna' shut the hell up and hopefully be
able to continue to enjoy the free fun called 'pick the winners'

hey, it's about as close to a free lunch as you'll find these days,
so who am i to try to tell someone how i like my sandwich?

just sayin'.

Hahahahhahaaha! Rules? We don't need no stinkin rules! I can screw up my picks no matter what the rules are. If I could pick 5 cars in every class, and the rest of you picked 1 in each class, I'd still lose! So, do what ya want PJ. You da man!

Whoa, it was just a thought/suggestion. Prefaced by a thank you to PJ. Sorry to offend...

I doubt you're offending PJ by making suggestions! I love this thing and I'll play by any rules. We left coasters do have an advantage when qualifying runs late. That being said, I'd love to see the rules stay the same, but I might be a wee bit prejudiced - :D

:eek:I've got a suggestion.... DON'T LET TIMMAH BET PAUL ROGERS JR. THAT HE CAN COME FROM BEHIND TO BEAT HIM!!! I GOTTA WEAR A PJ DRESS!!!

First off thanks to everyone for playing and I am always open to hearing ways to improve the game, no offense taken. I'm always toying with different ideas myself and Ray's always yelling at me to score, quicker, better, faster....oh yeah and correctly:D

I wanted to have a set time for the dealine which is why I chose midnight Friday of the race. If I went by the first qualifying time that will vary race to race and people would end up missing the entry time. I'd be afraid of bumping it up to Thursday and having too many people miss the entry.

I like the idea of people getting the big ole zero for a dnq, it adds one more element to the game, but if enough people are against that I would consider makin a sat night deadline instead. (although for the races with speciality races there would then be 2 deadlines)

One change I do plan on making next year is giving people one pass on being late. Every year there is always someone who plays every week that ends up forgetting, they end up dropping from at or near the top because of it. I am thinking about allowing their previous weeks picks to be used but only 1 time in a row. For instance right now if someone missed Vegas but had played the race before I would use those picks, if they then also missed Pomona then oh well they'd get a zero in pomona.

I don't want to just auto use peoples picks for the entire season in that over the 3 years I've run this we are usually around 120 who at least play it once. Of that though there are usually 1/2 that at least play often and another 1/4 that play hit and miss. A good number play once or twice then disappear. I don't wan't to have stats running for people who really are not an actve part of the game.

I do like that fact that we are playing a game run by a guy in a superhero outfit under a pink tutu...

I also like the fact that "d'boss" 'helps' PJ out.... Thanks RGjr... checks in the mail... just don't drop it, the bounce will give you a black eye or worst...

it's rare when my picks don't race each other early:eek:, but I have fun...

Now, if I could only figure out where my Mater Bucks went...

Thanks Ray
THANKS PJ
a pair of juniors, who'd a thunk it....
