Stivers looking to stay on a hot roll in Vegas

LAS VEGAS, (October 25, 2007) - The excitement and thrill of winning his first AMS Pro Mod event still hasn't worn off for Lexington, Ky.-native Rick Stivers, and, according to him, that's a really good thing. He said he is hoping to carry the momentum into the final race of the season and earn his second win this weekend at the ACDelco Las Vegas NRHA Nationals.

"They say the first one is the hardest one to get, and that took me 15 years, so, I think I'm due for another one, too," Stivers said. "My tuner, Chuck Ford, really had us running well in Richmond, and after struggling all year to get down the track, I think we found a sweet spot.

"We've all worked so hard, and to finally get a win and be on the positive side of things is a breath of fresh air for all of us. It's like that was a start of a whole new season, and now I just want to go racing," he said.

"My wife Jill and my son Rick Jr. are still just as excited, too, about the win, and we all have a really good feeling about Vegas. I've always had really good luck in this town, and we're on a roll.

"You always bet big when you're hot - and we're hot, so watch out," Stivers said.

Qualifying on is scheduled at 3 and 5:40 p.m. on Friday, October 26 and 11:20 a.m. Saturday, and eliminations begin Saturday evening at 5 p.m. The balance of eliminations will be completed on Sunday, October 28.
