It's voted on by the members of the media who, coincidentally enough, love writing about Tony. Brian Lohnes did say he was in favor of Gadsen so it wasn't unanimous.

50 something with a new baby and a “Rookie” of the year. It’s only a matter of time before he gets a Wally. I gotta believe he gets at least one next year.

I wonder if they will have a 2 dragster team next year? I would imagine Leah and the baby will be at most, if not all of the races next year. Why not run two dragsters if she’s there already anyway? Unless of course, the plan is to have another kid right away.

While adding a 2nd TF car sounds great, that's not an easy undertaking. Not speaking for Tony, but adding another fuel car is a big undertaking. It's a massive investment, both financially and personnel wise, especially if it's another full pull car.

This was determined before the season even started. Name recognition alone won the award. A good thing for NHRA as it attracts more eyes. No one outside PSM has heard of Gadsen.

Maybe a 3 car team in about 5 years - TF for him and her, Jr Dragster for the baby, lol. With those genes, that baby will have some serious racing blood in him.

That shouldn't even be a factor in choosing rookie of the year. Performance is what matters. And Gadsen performed better than Tony.

I see your point but NHRA sees it differently. They use to have 2 separate awards but combined them years ago
