STEVENS AND PROWSE TO BATTLE FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS AT WINTERNATIONALS

The largest Drag Racing event in the Southern Hemisphere is set to rock Queensland ’s Willowbank Raceway when it hosts the 40th anniversary of the Winternationals from the 8th-10th June.

As the finale to the Australian Drag Racing Series, the Winternationals has attracted a record 85 professional entries including heavyweight Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens who will be battling it out with Sydney’s Wayne Newby for the National Top Alcohol Championship.

Driving his Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car, Stevens is currently in second place behind Newby but is within striking distance of taking the Title. This would make him the only person in history to win three professional Drag Racing Championships in three different Group 1 brackets.

Stevens will also be racing his past Championship winning Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley in Top Bike and his 3000 horsepower Jack Daniel’s Racing Falcon Top Doorslammer.

“The pressure is really going to be on at the Winternationals but I’m hoping to go all the way for another win in my Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car,” Stevens said.

“With a good result I can get my first Top Alcohol Championship. It would go really well with my Top Doorslammer and Top Bike Titles from 2004 and 2005.”

“It is going to be another hectic weekend for me as I will also be racing my Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley and Top Doorslammer, and will be aiming for the winners circle in them as well.”

“I think that the Top Doorslammer bracket is going to be one of the biggest spectacles of the event though as 21 cars try to make it into the 8 car finals field.”

Taking the Pro Stock Motorcycle bracket by storm in the 2006-2007 season, another Brett Stevens Racing team member Dion Prowse is equally as excited about hitting the track for his first Winternationals.

Prowse has amazingly all but wrapped the Australian Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship as he looks to go the entire season undefeated in his debut Drag Racing year aboard the teams S&S powered Pro Stock Buell.

“Know one expected me to be going this well in my first ever season Drag Racing on an untried and untested bike in Australia ,” Prowse said.

“To be undefeated with just round remaining is an amazing result for S&S and the entire Brett Stevens Racing team.”

“My first goal at the Winter’s is to ensure I get though qualifying and into the field, that will give me enough points to win the Championship.”

“Then I will be going all out to cap off what has been an unbelievable season by going all the way to win the Winternationals crown and keep my undefeated record in the Pro Stock Motorcycle bracket.”

The Brett Stevens Racing team will present an imposing presence at the Winternationals as the countries largest professional race team races an amazing seven Group 1 race vehicles at the event.

In their pits will be two Jack Daniel’s Racing Top Doorslammers (Brett Stevens and Kath Stevens), two Jack Daniel’s Racing Top Bikes (Brett Stevens and Troy McLean), the Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car (Brett Stevens), the teams third Falcon Top Doorslammer (Steve Packman) and the S&S powered Pro Stock Buell (Dion Prowse).

The Winternationals is the pinnacle event in the Australian Drag Racing calendar and is also the final round of the National Drag Racing Championship.
