WHO: Reigning NHRA Top Fuel champion Steve Torrence secured his fourth consecutive championship last season. He owns 51 event wins and is the only driver in NHRA history to sweep the NHRA Countdown to the Championship’s six-race playoffs. During his 2021 campaign, Torrence powered to 11 race wins and 14 final rounds with a win/loss record of 60-9.
Torrence’s 2021 ESPYS nomination is his second nomination for the prestigious award. He is joined on the ballot by 2021 NASCAR champion Kyle Larson, 2021 Formula One world champion Max Verstappen, and 2021 IndyCar Series champion Álex Palou.
