TOPEKA, Ks. – Steve Chrisman made the long drive to Topeka from Anaheim, Calif., intent on making the 16-car Top Fuel lineup for Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Summer Nationals at Heartland Park, and he did.
Chrisman did that with a 6.655-second elapsed time at 111.76 mph Saturday and claimed the No. 15 position in the Nitro Fish Top Fuel dragster. His first-round foe is a tough one, Full Throttle Drag Racing Series point leader Del Worsham, who was second-quickest with a 1,000-foot run of 3.815 at 318.62.
Chrisman, who had traction problems on all four of his qualifying runs, also made the drive here last year and started in 15th slot.
