Chrisman qualifies 13th; races Schumacher at NW Nationals (1 Viewer)

KENT, Wash. – Steve Chrisman waited until his final Saturday qualifying run to jump from 16th into the 13th starting slot for Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways.

“We hopped up the blower and the car went down the track,” he said of the 4.010-second 286.86-mph 1,000-foot run in the Nitro Fish Top Fuel dragster. “Our (previous) tune-up was just too soft. The track here was just too good.”

The car moved around the track, but Chrisman was able to get it back in the groove. “That was a respectable run. No, it wasn’t the fastest. Respectable is all we hope for.”

He squares off against Tony Schumacher (No. 4, 3.845 at 3.19.67) in the first round for the second successive race.
