Spiering sets low ET in British Columbia
Presented by Eaton, the “Fast and Furious on the Fraser” featured top Pro Modified teams

MISSION, BRITISH COLUMBIA (July 1, 2007) – Carl Spiering set low elapsed time of the event in a strong field of Pro Modified entries at the “Fast and Furious on the Fraser” presented by Eaton event in Mission, British Columbia over the Canada Day weekend.

“The good news, we set low ET of the event again this year with a 6.06-second pass in the first round,” said Spiering, who is based in Jordan Station, Ontario. “On the first full run on the car this season in qualifying we ran a 6.11-second pass, but unfortunately we timed out on the starting line and the run was not counted.”

“But the bad news, after analyzing the run from the first round win we found an ignition problem and we missed second round due to a magneto problem. The Eaton Road Warrior had lots of power, but we could not continue.”

Driving the Eaton Electrical Pro Modified Supercharged 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, the 42-year old Spiering defeated Howie Stephens in the first round and clocked a 6.064-second, 236.09-mph, the quickest run of the weekend.

“Overall, it was a great weekend, with beautiful western Canada weather, a good crowd, and lots of Eaton customers and employees enjoying the event,” added Spiering. “Going out early in eliminations gave us the opportunity to work closely with Glen Kerunsky and his new ERD (Engine Research & Development) program he was very pleased with.”

Kerunsky, in an Alberta-based 1957 Chevrolet, defeated Kirk Kuhns 1959 Chevrolet Corvette from California in the final round of eliminations to win the Eaton-sponsored “Fast and Furious on the Fraser” at Mission Dragway, an independent West Coast Pro Mod Association event.

“We’ll spend the week getting the Eaton Road Warrior ready for the IHRA race next weekend in Edmonton and Eaton have lots of things planned for us,” said Spiering. “I’m pleased with the first weekend out with the car and the new set-up, it shows a lot of promise.”

Spiering will compete in the IHRA Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Modified category at next weekend’s Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam™ Drag Racing Series, race four of the 11-event series in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Fifth Annual CARS RV, Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by Torco Race Fuels will take place in Edmonton, Alberta July 6-8. For more information about Castrol Raceway, call 1-877-331-RACE (7223) or visit Drag Racing, Oval Racing, Motocross: Castrol Raceway
