Spiering misses first round call at NHRA Gatornationals

"It's just the little things that killed us this weekend at the Gatornationals."

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA (March 16, 2008) - Carl Spiering and the Eaton Cutler-Hammer Pro Modified Corvette were unable to make the first round of eliminations Sunday due to a mechanical problem at the 39th annual ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida.

"It was a case of what could go wrong did go wrong today," said Spiering, of Jordan Station, Ontario. "We've learned a lot testing and competing over the past couple weeks, but we still have some things to sort out on the new Eaton Cutler-Hammer Road Warrior."

"I am pleased that we qualified, we'll keep working and we will get there," he continued. "Our new Tim McAmis Race Cars-manufactured 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a great hot-rod and we're making lots of power. It's just the little things that killed us this weekend at the Gatornationals."

Spiering qualified 14th with a 6.223-second 231.75-mph pass in the JEGS ProMod Challenge Series.

Joe Baker from Milton , Florida, in a 1941 Willys, defeated Raymond Commisso's 1967 Camaro from Toronto , Ontario in the championship round of final eliminations.
