Reigning and Current NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle points leader, Matt Smith is anxiously anticipating the final two races on tour. Smith and his Nitrofish Buell sit atop the point standings with a 42 point lead over Eddie Kraweic heading into Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. Smith knows this weekend could be huge, but he is treating just as any other weekend.

“I’m going into Vegas just as I would any other race,” said Smith. “We have to take one round at a time and just go from there. Hopefully we can do what we have been doing all year and be on top in the end.”

With the Pro Stock Motorcycle class having the last three weeks off, Smith has had more than enough time to prepare himself for the final stretch. Relaxing, racing and testing all in the last few weeks, Smith kept himself in the zone as he ran in the AHDRA race at Rockingham over the break and won. Practicing his reaction times as well as testing his motors, Smith is poised and ready for the Vegas race.

“This weekend is not only big for Championship intentions,” said Smith. “But we are in the process of looking for sponsorship for next year as well, so doing good in these last few races could help that process as well.”

Smith looks to capture his second consecutive Championship title over the next few weeks. His consistency and determination could pay off as early as this weekend at the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals as qualifying kicks off Friday afternoon.
