After running strong last year at the Ohio based track, the 2007 POWERade Champion was looking to take his Nitrofish Buell to the winner’s circle in Norwalk this past weekend.

Smith ran well during qualifying and ended up in the fifth position going into Sunday’s eliminations. Having to face off against Wesley Wells for the second week in a row for first round, Smith knew he would have to run well on the track in order to get the win.

Smith ran a 7.042 et at 187.86 mph to take the win light first round and would now have to face Hector Arana in the second round. Losing lane choice to Arana, Smith knew he would have to step it up on the track.
Leaving on the race veteran and giving it all he had on the ¼ mile dragstrip, Smith would come up five inches short as he would lose to the eventual race winner in the second round.

“It was a rough weekend,” said Smith. “We struggled a bit on the tree this weekend as well as many of the Pro Stock Motorcycle riders did. We are heading home to try and found some power and work on some things in order to get ready for the western swing in a few weeks, hopefully we will be faster there.”

Smith still sits third in the Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship point standings as he heads to the west coast in two weeks where he swept both races last year.
