CHARLOTTE, NC (March 11, 2011) – Angie Smith and her Team Safety Sentry Motorsports Buell struggled a bit in qualifying today at the 42nd annual Tire Kingdom NHRA GatorNationals.
The NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock Motorcycle class kicked off their season in Gainesville, Florida this weekend. With two qualifying sessions today, Smith knows she will have to better her effort tomorrow.
“We watched the video, and it’s just me,” says Smith. “The bike is leaning to the left, so I have got to fix my riding style a bit. My numbers down low are awesome though. They are actually faster than Matt’s (her husband, who is qualified 5th), so we should be just fine tomorrow.”
Smith’s bike drifted a bit to the left on both of her runs today, which left her sitting outside the top 12 in the qualifying order. Therefore she will start from scratch in the morning.
She will have two more shots at it tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m.
