Who`s heading up to Kent for the Schucks Auto Supply Nationals (it`s always going to be the Northwest Nationals to me) this weekend? Forecast calls for cool temps in the 70s!

I'll be there all three days, I should arrive at the track about 8:00 A.M Friday morning. Anyone up for an adult microbrew beverage Friday or Saturday night? :D

I'll be there all 3 days! I sure hope that weather forcast holds up, sure beats the Hell out of the 100's they've had there in the past!

The UW weather guru, Cliff Maas, says that there is nothing but "Seattle Sparklers" (morning clouds, afternoon sun, high in the 70s) for as far out as the computer models can go -- at least two weeks. Should be ideal weather for a race.

BTW, the highest temperature ever recorded in Seattle (at the airport) is 99 -- never hit 100 :)

I will, of course, be there. I plan to hit the first round of qualifying at 3 p.m. on Friday but then we're going to a Mariners game that night ... I wasn't paying attention when we agreed to that.

Saturday I'll actually be there by myself for once and would be happy to meet up with folks.

Red Robin just opened up a location in Covington, just about 10 minutes from the drag strip, and The Rock wood fired pizza in Covington is also good for an adult beverage.

Just look for me, minus the visor. :D

There's also a Red Robin about 10 minutes from the track in Kent, however if anyone is feeling up for an adventure, the Rogue brewery is up in Issaquah, along with a Flying Pie pizzaria a block away from that!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM BEEEEER!

BB Magraws in Auburn is about 5 minutes from the track and they get a lot of the race crowd. We could meet up for beers and watch qualifying Saturday. Plus, I only have to drive about a block to get back to my hotel!

Hey Joe, I will be there all 3 days as well. We're racing the TAFC. Come by and say hi. Look for the Walery's Pizza/NAPA Auto car. See you then.

I also like The Ram in downtown Kent (haha, downtown, sorry that makes me chuckle) for a good beer.

Ugh. I have spent too much time in Issaquah during the past year. Hubby works up there now. Haven't actually been to the pub there. Stan's Barbecue there on Front Street also has some good grub. Flying Pie has great pizza.

Alan, I'll give you my number if you make sure NHRA issues me my media credential! LOL. :D

Back in '98 I was staying with a Friend who lived in Burien at the time. We stopped at some place in Either Auburn or Kent off of 18 that Had live Rock and Roll! One of the members while the band was on break saw my race shirt and said "Oh Man that's awesome! We're going tomorrow!" Anyone know what place that might be?

Might it have been this place?
Longhorn Barbecue

Perhaps so. But that heat during the 2006 race sure felt like more than a 100 degrees for many of us Pacific Northwesterners who aren't used to that stuff. :D

Absolutely. Having lived in Vegas I don't really feel much of a difference between 98 and 100. It's hot and it sucks. Besides, the track temp on a day like that is what, 140 degrees?

In '06 I didn't eat breakfast on Saturday but took all my meds before we left (the person I brought was late despite the fact I told her repeatedly what time to be at my house so we could have breakfast ... we're not friends anymore) so I felt like I was gonna die by about 2 p.m. Diabetic + heat - food =

So, here's to it being not hot. No weather predictions coming from me but I'm hoping it stays like it's been the past couple weeks. :D
