I wonder what a West coast ADRL event would be like. We have no idea what it is out here.

Weren't they allowed to run 20% pop in NHRA blower car trim for a while?

30.
I loved the nitro coupes at Pomona SCS and it was a fun car to watch. SCS at Pomona used to be a huge deal to us Chevy people. It's a shadow of it's former self nowadays.
(thry moved it to Fontana)

Don't they give most of the tickets away for free?

Yes, its actually brilliant. Yet some people want to keep bashing them for it. That they only get that many people b/c its free. So what, they get them, and they make $$$$$ hand over fists.

Its simple math actually:

If they charged $25 a day to get in, and had 10,000 people show up thats $250,000. Lets say those people spend another $40 on food/drink/etc thats $400,000. So $650,000 total.

Now they give away the tickets, 30,000 people show up instead of 10k. Since they didnt have to pay to get in, they will probably spend atleast $50 a piece on food/drink/etc happily b/c they didnt have to pay to get in. Thats $1.5m

This also doesnt take into acct they charge to park so thats another great chunk of change. Also, even though the ADRL gives away tickets, they get paid for them b/c the National Guard gives them $X for every ticket turned in.

The ADRL is the best, non-stop, action packed racing show on earth. Hands down. And this is coming from someone who prefers 1/4th mile racing. If you love promods or fast doorcars there's no other place to race.

Also, b/c of the free tickets they can bring in a bunch of different potential sponsors b/c there crowd isint just race fans. They bring in a very diverse group of people to which sponsors love.

It has its downsides also though. Traffic is a nightmare at almost every race. The ADRL is one of those races you have to go to early, spend all day, and stay late.

There is ALOT of people there and alot of them know nothing about drag racing. To alot of them, its the frst race they have ever been too. Thats a good thing for our sport, but can make that event a pain in some aspects.

With that all being said, I think the ADRL is where its at. I think everyone should attend one. Its just different. I wasnt around back in the heyday of this sport but alot of people who were say this reminds them of then.

And Don, I wish you good luck if you get involved. I think they have a wonderful thing going and I hope it never goes away.

And if you dont think the NHRA is paying attention to the ADRL, your crazy.

By the way, Don Wooten's nitro entry runs at 50% now.

If the ADRL came to Joliet, I would certainly go for the weekend. I love Pro Mod!

If the ADRL came to Joliet, I would certainly go for the weekend.

Ditto.....especially if the tickets were free....i would certainly pay $10 to park and buy a few beers and a hot dog

....plus think of it this way....if you can market 35,000 spectators per day as opposed to 10,000, dont you think potential sponsors would be happier and more likely sign on?

I haven't been to one, but all this talk of it has me interested although im not crazy about 1/8th mile racing. Hell my jr. dragster ran 1/8th mile. Dunno where there are any around me but I would wanna check it out

don't care if it's drag racing, the x games, or chess; if you've got
30k plus 20-30 year olds showing consistently at your events, the
advertisers are going to pay attention.
very impressionable buyers at that age.
