Schnitz's .034 Bulb Not Good Enough

Ryan Schnitz's .034 light in the opening Pro Stock Motorcycle
round of the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway wasn't good enough. Schnitz's Trim-Tex/Muzzy's Buell outran Craig Treble's Suzuki on the track, but Treble won with a better light.

eliminations round 1
(W) Craig Treble .012 7.075 at 189.15 mph
Ryan Schnitz .034 7.058 at 187.39 mph

"It just shows how tough the competition is," said Schnitz. "You can't cut a .020 or .030 light anymore and expect to win. You have to cut a teen or better and sometimes that isn't even enough. And you have to do that consistently every round. We haven't done that the last two rounds of eliminations and it's kinda caught up to us, so we're gonna focus on that.

"The bike made a clean pass on the track. It was a little soft on the top end, and we're not sure why. It still ran a 7.05, which is pretty good for the opening round. So it was nobody's fault but my own.

"We'll try to get some testing in before Las Vegas and hope to do better then. In the meantime, we'll just try to focus on reaction times and get some maintenance done on the bike."

Ryan and the Trim-Tex/Muzzy's Buell race next at The Strip in Las Vegas, October 26-29.

Schnitz thanked Trim-Tex Drywall Products, Muzzy's, Schnitz Racing, Bates Leathers and NGK.
