Although round 1 of Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying went all wrong for Ryan Schnitz, by the end of the second round he was solidly in the field for the the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.

20th Ryan Schnitz right lane 11.090 at 74.30 mph
"We had a brand new tire on the bike for round 1," said Schnitz. "I did a longer burnout to scrub it in and everything was normal. But then it just spun the tire immediately off the line and didn't even go on the wheelie bars. It fishtailed and went towards the line. It's important to keep your motorcycle in your lane, so I just shut it off. We looked at the tire after the pass and it looked like it had a one second burnout on it. So we did another long burnout for the second round and it was fine."

8th Ryan Schnitz left lane 7.024 at 189.04 mph
The second round of qualifying saw the Mickey Thompson 6 Second Club close it's membership without Schnitz on board. "You want to get into those things because it gets your name in the record books," said Ryan. "But we have a bike that's capable of running with anybody. We just didn't have any data from the first pass to work with for the second. Now we do, and tomorrow's first session will probably be the best of the weekend. It would be nice to run a 6, but we really don't have to.
"Most of all I'm excited to be back on the track and racing. It's been like four weeks since Indy and it seems like a long time."
