(5-26-2007) TULSA, OK – Despite the excitement regarding the newest addition to the IHRA’s 2007 Tour, it’s pretty gloomy in the pits at Tulsa Raceway Park. The action was slated to begin early today, but rain showers and construction at the TRP facility has halted the progress of the IHRA Skull Shine Nationals.
Danny Rowe, however, is ready to rock and roll. At the drop of the hat, Rowe and team are eagerly awaiting the debut of their new Tommy Mauney-built 1967 Chevy Camaro, the 2nd version of their popular Unfinished Business campaign.
“Let’s go!” exclaimed the ever-jublient Rowe. “I’m ready to get on with it. The weather isn’t helping things, but hopefully the clouds will part and we’ll be able to go out there and do what we do – drag race.”
There’s a reason for the excitement in the Danny Rowe Racing pit area and it has a lot to do with their desire to win and their ability to do so.
“We’re overdue here. I think a win is on the horizon for us and the new car might just be what we need to put us over the top. We’re here to win, no question about it and we’ll continue working hard to win the world championship. We’ve qualified well and now it’s time to start going rounds and being consistent later in eliminations. The fields are so tough now, though, that you are almost always going into a race that you have to earn. We can’t go out and lay one up just trying to go down the track; you’ve got to run hard.”
Also adding a key piece to continually complex Pro Mod puzzle is a new associate sponsor for Danny Rowe Racing in Permatex. The company, which is known best for its well-recognized brand names such as Permatex, Right Stuff and Fast Orange, is excited to be involved with one of the fastest growing classes in all of drag racing.
“This is a great shot in the arm for us. To have a company such as Permatex involved with our program really says something about what we have to offer; this class and the racers as a whole. It’s an exciting time for Pro Modified and this is definitely a sign of the times and undeniable popularity of this class.”
As the weekend and bad weather wear on, Danny Rowe will patiently wait to unleash the new Camaro and take his shot at the Tulsa Raceway Park quarter-mile.
