ROCKINGHAM, NC- Coming into the final event of the 2007 IHRA Season, Danny Rowe and team have only one thing in mind – going out with a bang. While 2007 was not all that it was cracked up to be for Danny Rowe, it was definitely a continued learning experience for the team in their sophomore year of competition.
In his first season back to Pro Modified in 2006, Danny Rowe walked away from the final event of the season with a runner-up finish in the IHRA World Championship Point Standings. With any luck, his exit from Rockingham this year will be equally graceful. Hope for a championship has faded, but a solid outing and winning performance in Rockingham this weekend would surely set the tone for next year.
“Obviously, we haven’t had the season that we wanted to have,” admitted the seasoned Pro Modified driver, Danny Rowe. “We brought out a new car halfway through the new season and while I feel it was a good move for our program, the timing probably wasn’t quite right. Trying to test during the season was difficult, but we’ve figured out a lot that will make us a threat next year. Racers hate to have seasons like we’ve had this year and it is easy to get discouraged but it is experiences like these that build a championship team. I feel Jimmy Rector has a strangle hold on this new ’67 Camaro and this weekend in Rockingham, we would really like to strut our stuff.”
Rowe continued, “We did some testing and actually put our chassis builder, Tommy Mauney, in the car for a weekend and he helped us figure out some of the little things we were fighting with. These transitions take time and I think we’ve got a program worthy of the winner’s circle at this point. Even though we struggled early on with the car, the last few weeks of testing and discovery should yield a complete about-face for our race team.”
Looking towards 2008 Danny Rowe, his team and his fans can rest assured that the Unfinished Business tour will roll on into 2008 with the same dedication and devotion to earning a Pro Modified World Championship. Racing gets underway at “The Rock” on Friday with the elimination rounds beginning Sunday morning. Look for Danny Rowe and his team, with a newfound confidence, to go the distance on race day.
