(9-10-2010) Laguna Hills, California – After returning home from an exciting but grueling five-day stretch at the prestigious Mac Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals held at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, Danny Rowe and the Sterling Bridge-backed Pro Modified team are looking forward to the next event on the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series 10-race schedule after a disappointing second-round exit at the “Big Go”.

All was not lost, though, as Rowe and the Jimmy Rector-led team posted an impressive 5.930 at 247.16mph to secure the No. 5 qualifying spot in the ultra competitive field before besting Mike Knowles in the opening round of action to secure placement in Monday’s Labor Day elimination day. In the quarterfinal round, Rowe was paired with Joe Baker, who secured a minute six-thousandths-of-a-second holeshot when the green light flashed on the Christmas tree, just enough to hold off Rowe’s hard-charging 6.009 at 245.00mph with his own 6.004/238.47mph combination.

“We always take these race weekends one step at a time and, honestly, things were going just how we like them to go up until Monday,” said Rowe. “We knew it would be important to qualify well and we were able to get that done, then we got through Sunday’s first round of eliminations and things were looking up for Monday at the U.S. Nationals. We just got caught there in the second round against Joe [Baker]. It was a great race, but you never want these deals to end until after you’re leaving the winner’s circle – especially at the biggest race of the year.

“We’re holding steady in the No. 2 spot in the championship points, though, and we’re still focused on winning this championship. We’re still in the hunt. We’ve got two races left to get the job done and I couldn’t be more confident in this Sterling Bridge team and Jimmy Rector [crew chief] when the pressure is on.”

Danny Rowe and the Sterling Bridge Pro Modified team will return to action at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals, September 16-19 at zMax Dragway outside of Charlotte, North Carolina.

OFFICIAL POINT STANDINGS, after seven events:

1. Von Smith, 528

2. Danny Rowe, 454

3. Kenny Lang, 422

4. Troy Coughlin, 382

5. Brad Personett, 360

ESPN2 and ESPNHD will televise 30 minutes of action from the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series on Sunday, September 19, at 10:30 a.m. ET.
