It's been reported at the C/P site that Roger Coburn, of the famed Warren-Coburn-Miller "Ridge Route Terrors" AA/FD team, was taken off life support this evening after undergoing emergency surgery last week. No further updates at this time.

I didn't know the man; I'm certain many on this forum do. His team was legendary in the SoCal area back in the day. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Thanks for the information. We were all glad they didn't leave Ca. much but when they did those guys struck terror in our hearts. May God go with him and his family.

By the way please tell this uninformed person what the C/P site is.

Thanks

being from the midwest, didn't see them much except indy. the stories were that other teams would sit somewhere and watch to see which track they'ed go to and then go somewhere else. they were the ridge route terrors. god speed

RIP Roger...A Ridge Route Terror Forever.....

Roger had been in the hospital for a bit. Was flown from Bakersfield to UCLA....Doctors tried everything they could, but finally ran out of options.

May God bless you and comfort your family Roger.

He was a hellva racer and a humble man. Like many of these legends that I've met over the years, Roger didn't see himself as a hero or an icon. They were just friends doing something that they loved. Recently, I always would go out of my way to say hi and shake his hand and call him "Sir," in the staging lanes at the ANRA races. Roger would look back sheepishly.

I loved going to Long Beach and watch that small block beat up on those Hemi's.:)

Michael

When did they run a small block?
RIP Roger.
Even to us east coast racers and fans the Warren, Coburn and Miller T/F car was known as one of the toughest in the country to beat.
Thanks for all the great memories.

When did they run a small block?

In their early days-small block chevies and hemis, including the unblown injected nitro cars that became known as Jr. fuelers, could compete with the 392 hemis before the advent of slipping clutches. That was back in the day when the high powered fuel cars would smoke the tires for almost the entire quarter mile.

Those guys were the best. My only personal encounter with Rodger came one night at OCIR when I inadvertently opened the Andy Gump door on him.:D

R.I.P Sir.

Cajun Nationals, from maybe 79 or 80.... The only time I ever got to see them.
