Robby probably endeared himself to Canadian fans by completely losing it today. After ignoring NASCAR's order to move back in the pack before a restart, he was black flagged, ignored that and proceeded to deliberately wreck the leader of the race. He then finished the race and claimed he had won! "Garage rumors are rampant thet Gordon will be suspended for tomorrow's Nextel Cup Race."
It amazes me that companies can be convinced to spend millions on backmaker NASCAR teams with no benefit or even worse, on a team that provided a perfect example of really bad racing. All this while NHRA teams who could provide some real PR value are dropping out.
Just needed to vent -

if NASCAR parks Robbie from the Cup race they will have one hell of a law suit coming.... past examples have happened before in other series (NASCAR's..) and all it warrented the drivers were suspensions from the series and probation in Cup... Harvick in the truck series two years ago... for example...

PLus.. i'm not a Robbie fan.. and don't agree with him taking out the 59 on the restart.. but i don't think he should have been moved back.... he was ahead when the full cousre yellow was flown... he lifted and got taken out after the yellow came out.. happened at Kentucky early in the year also.. to a 3rd place driver and NASCAR put that driver back in place....

gonna make for great tv tomorrow.. say what you want.. the Canadian promoter and NASCAR loved it.... gonna get them more press than anything else this year.... NASCAr problably would have made a small guesture on him if he had not blasted them on TV.. but since he stood up to them he's in for a butt chewing...lol...

I agree that it does not appear that Robbie should have been moved back. It was tough to tell by the replays if he had already made his pass when the caution came out. But there was no doubt that the caution was out when he got spun. In some ways I think he did the right thing by staying out but I think Robbie made it worse for himself when he spun the guy out after the restart. But regardless, you do what the sanctioning body tells you. The other guy should have just let him go by, he had to know that Robbie was black flagged, but then again Gordon may have tried to spin him no matter where he was. In my opinion, Nascar seeing that Gordon was not yielding to the black flag should have told his team that if he did not yield the spots they would stop the race and escort him off. NASCAR had to see what was comming.

He's out for the Cup race, He should know better than to mess with NASCAR, they make the rules and will back them up, even when they are wrong, Robby Gordon has always been an idiot so this was no surprise.

I am a huge Robby Gordon fan, surprise, surprise. I love the hard-headed drivers, that don't give a rats ass. I think the whole race yesterday was a bunch of bullshit and I acutally work in NASCAR, go figure. Anyway, it would have been nice to see Robby win the race, but that's racing. I do have to say though that it was a hell of a Busch race. Wish more Cup races were like that.

Looks like another idiotic NASCAR decision to not allow him to regain his spot. Sure, he shouldn't have disobeyed their commands but they shouldn't have made a stupid decision that wasn't right to begin with.

Or what? You get to continue to race and take the championship away from Doug Kalitta immediately after your ignorance of their mandate? Sorry, still smarting from that one?
:D:D:D I like it!!!!

Robby has been boned by NASCAR more than once.

Also it seems like whenever an ex crew chief takes over the director of competition role things get tougher on the teams.

I don't really car for Robby Gordon...but I think he got hosed on the position call.....but he made it worse by not listening to NASCAR officials and that is the bottom line.. Too bad NHRA won't do the same.

It's sad that NHRA is kissing so many sponsors asses that they have to condone certain rule infractions such as Shumacher at the finals last year.

I don't get why the harping on Shoe about last years fiasco.

It had absolutely no bearing on any outcome..it was qualifying. Unless you think he should have been DNQ'd because of it..well then that would have changed the outcome huh?

At least Robby has the courage to stand up against the "Evil Empire" (aka NASCAR) if he feels he is being wronged. How many others can say that. Most take the easy way out and back down.
Unfortunately, it always costs Robby $$$$$, but at least he'll still be able to race at Watkins Glen this weekend.

I hope he wins the race!! That would be poetic justice!:D

Ding, ding, ding.....We have a winner. Could not have been more precise in anything I posted. Good job David.

Late......................Mitch

A lot of people thought Shoe should of been parked for the rest of the event and yes that would of changed last year's outcome.

The only reason I made a reference to last year was to show that NHRA doesn't have the nads to enforce their own rules against certain individuals. NASCAR doesn't care who you are or who your sponsor is. If you want to play in their sand box you better not shit in it because if you do, you will be going home.

I despise Robby Gordon. If I was Marcus Ambrose I would have beat his ass from one side of that garage to the other like a crazed Koala.

All that being said, I do think Robby got hosed on the position call.

And I will give Robby props for offering a Cup ride this weekend to Ambrose to show there are no hard feelings. I hope Ambrose takes him up on the offer.
