<P>DINWIDDIE, Va. (Oct. 12, 2008) – Shannon Seim, 40, of Richmond, Va., was selected as the 23rd NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member of the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series today at the third annual Virginia NHRA Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park.

An associate sales manager for the NAPA AUTO PARTS Distribution Center in Richmond, he has been a drag-racing fan since he was a child. "I used to drag race when I was in high school but these days I'm just a fan," said Seim, attending the race with his wife, Susan. "It's been two years since I've been able to go to a drag race and I'm extremely excited to be here today.

"The Funny Cars were just amazing, I loved all the noise and vibration, and it was a tremendous thrill. I've never experienced anything on this big of a scale.

"There are some great people with this organization and it's been a tremendous thrill. I was proud to represent the NAPA team today."

Seim's non-wrenching crew-member duties included escorting the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car to the staging lanes in the team's Dodge Durango tow vehicle for the first round of eliminations and also helping retrieve the car at the end of the track following driver Ron Capps' winning first-round run.

He also met and chatted with the entire NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car crew and was a special guest in the NAPA hospitality area throughout the day. He received a NAPA team jersey, experienced an up-close-and-personal view of the NAPA crew as the team worked on the car, and enjoyed a private tour of the team transporter and pit area.

An employee of NAPA AUTO PARTS for just two months, Seim was selected as the Honorary Crew Member by the NAPA Richmond Distribution Center as a way to help him learn what assets NAPA has available to him to take out into the field. By working with the drag-racing program and being the Honorary Crew Member it gives Seim another view of NAPA's involvement in motorsports, enabling him to explain to his customers how they can become involved in the hospitality and promotional programs.

NAPA AUTO PARTS distribution centers at each NHRA event during the season have different criteria for choosing the persons who are potential NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Members.
