Perhaps the largest field ever of blown alcohol pro comp entries in the history of the DragParts.com Blown Alcohol Thunder Series will converge on the vastly improved Renegade Raceway in Yakima, Washington, Friday and Saturday, July 1-2.
The Central Washington facility now has an improved track surface and the word is getting out attracting blown alcohol dragsters, funny cars and altereds from four western states and Canada according to track manager Derek Snelson. “We are expecting close to 16 cars which is the biggest field of blown alcohol cars we’ve seen at Renegade in many years” Snelson said. The race will also include a big bracket shoot out and even 7.60 down to 12.60 heads up classes with no throttle stops.
Some of the pro comp entries expected include all of last year’s top five series finishers including Champion Brent Jones in the Lawless funny car, second place finisher Kyle Hansen from Moses Lake, Washington, Rich Bailey who recently broke through the 200 MPH barrier, Kelly Flansaas in the popular Rocky Mountain Thunder funny car and rounding out the top five is George Moore in his crowd pleasing blown roadster.
In addition, drag racing legend Jerry “the King” Ruth will be there and has been named "Grand Marshal" of the event.
Gates open each day at 12 noon. The blown alcohol cars will run at 7, 9 and 10 each night. Admission is only $10.00 on Friday and 15.00 on Saturday which includes pit access and free parking. Bring a can of food on Saturday for the food drive and save $5.00 at the gate.
