<P>CONCORD, N.C. – Reigning two-time NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion Bill Reichert took another step towards championship number three with a win during this past weekend’s Carolina Nationals at the new Z-Max Dragway at Concord just outside of Charlotte, N.C. Reichert’s Rislone Engine Treatment backed dragster ran the table at the new event, qualifying No. 1 along with setting low elapsed time and top speed. The win was Reichert’s second-straight and extended his points lead over second-place Jim Whiteley to 39 points. Reichert, who runs the family business, Reichert Racing Engines, in Owosso, Mich., qualified his injected-nitro dragster on the pole with a 5.264 second elapsed time at 272.83 mph. In round one, he defeated former Nitro Funny Car driver Bob Weickgenant with a 5.396 at 260.11 mph, then received a competition bye in round two. Luckily he had the run to use as a ‘tune-up’ pass as he smoked the tires at the hit. He then set low e.t. and top speed in defeating former World Champ Art Gallant in the semifinals with a 5.246 at 273.39 mph. Reichert then took on Ken Perry in the final. Reichert took a huge holeshot off the line and never looked back, running a 5.308 at 264.44 mph to take the win. “It was definitely another good weekend for us,” said Reichert. “The crew did a great job and the car was running pretty good for as hot as it was. It was hot and humid; in the high 80’s and low 90’s. They built a pretty neat facility there. The track is so smooth I felt things in the car I never felt before.

"The win puts us in a better position to win the championship," Reichert continued. "It’s still anyone’s race between the three of us. I’m just glad we could put this Rislone/Bar’s Leaks car in another winner’s circle.” The next event for the Rislone team will be the Division 2 event at Atlanta Dragway, Oct. 3-5.
