Regular season champ? (1 Viewer)

JFR gets hight into countdown at last possible moment a few years back;
robert goes on to win championship from 10th position; this feat is
celebrated to this day as 'what is possible with the countdown'

Mike Neff leads 2011 season points total by considerable amount thru
the US Nats. - enters countdown and stumbles but is now regaled
as the 2011 regular season champ?

please - do i have STUPID tattooed on my forehead?

(setting myself up here)

Has anyone figured out who the champions would have been without the clowndown?

My book will has it done in full, I cannot reveal it until it's released. I will give you this: Only #1 regular season driver that got ruined by the countdown was Mike Neff.

wait...so you're saying that a team shouldn't try and show themselves in the best possible light in a press release?

'cause that is all that is going on here; making lemonade out of lemons and all

for sure that is what they are trying to do.
there is a degree of hypocrisy here too; can't have it both ways.
if neff won the points thru indy, then lets say john had won his 16th title, surely they wouldn't be touting neff as regular season champ.
their lemon is called 'a bad season' all around.

- should the pittsburgh steelers put out a release exclaiming they had a
successful year?

- what does john force himself continually say?....'our sponsors pay us to
win championships, that is what we do'

- maybe gray's team should be celebrating for
winning the playoff season?

no, they are just putting the season in the best possible light, it has nothing whatsoever to do with hipocracy or anything sinister...why is that such a big deal???

and yes, stick and ball sports teams do it ALL the time

I think a lot of you are reading (and making) wayyyy too much out of this. The statement did not say "the" regular season champion, it said regular season champion. In my book, he definitely was the Gatornationals, Supernationals, Summit Racing Equipment Nationals, Route 66 Nationals and US Nationals funny car champion in 2011. ;)

did not say anything about or relating to sinister.

pointing out that a couple years ago the spin doctors
praised hight for winning the championship from the 10th spot in the countdown, without which he would have stood little to no chance of winning the championship....... (countdown good)

now the same folks have presented us with a 'regular season champion'
moniker for neff in order for us think what?
'regular season champion' = #1 seed in countdown; nothing more, nothing less

who cares anyways - sorry to get so wrapped up in something so trivial.

sam - thanks for correction; and the steelers are crying in their beer rite now, not celebrating anything
