CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 28, 2008) - The Pro Modified Racing Association hosted a record number of 18 cars for the Fourth Annual KC Auto Family Day presented by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Osram Sylvania and Independent Electrical Distributors Saturday on the Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park, but due to time restraints and moisture late in the evening, the eliminations will take place Sunday, June 29.
The race is the third in the 2008 PMRA schedule presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario.
After three rounds of qualifying, Mike Stawicki of Medina, New York, took number one spot in the G-Force Race Cars 1967 Camaro with a 6.166-second, 227.08-mph pass. Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario, qualified number two with a 6.225-second, 233.68-mph run in his 1971 Challenger. Next was the 1968 Camaro of Mark Nielson of Brantford, Ontario with a 6.319-second, 231.75-mph pass.
The remainder of the eight-car field includes Ralph Andreacchi of Maple, Ontario, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, Sam Andreacchi of Toronto, Ontario, Larry Sinke of Welland, Ontario, and Jack Grainy of North Tonawanda, New York.
It was discovered that after his third qualifying pass, Stawicki’s car suffered a broken exhaust component and he would not be able to continue with the first round of eliminations, bumping Mike Cusimano of Rochester, New York into the show with his 1994 Corvette.
The first round of eliminations are scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29.
Also on hand is the OSCA featuring the Super Street Outlaw cars, competing in the OSCA “Canada Day Shootout.” These stock-appearing cars run with unlimited engine restrictions on 10.5-inch wide rear tires.
