MAPLE, ONTARIO (May 24, 2007) - Ralph Andreacchi may not be driving his Skull Motorsports 1953 Studebaker Pro Modified at all upcoming Pro Modified Racing Association events this year, but the team owner will certainly have his car at the races.
Andreacchi plans to compete in the PMRA tour, but is also planning on having Toronto's Raymond Commisso drive the car.
Commisso has been pursing the NHRA Pro Modified series, but with a large gap in events during the summer, he will be driving the Skull Motorsports car.
"We're off all summer," explained Andreacchi about the lack of NHRA events. "I've been helping him out, and we're going to put Raymond in the car to keep him sharp."
And to keep the Stude in fine form as a contender, noted Pro Modified engine tuner and crew chief Al Billes of Barrie will be part of the effort.
The car is powered by an Al Billes Racing 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi, which has a best time to date of 6.456-seconds at 219 mph, stout numbers for a 2900-pound car running with mufflers.
Andreacchi started racing in 1986, and has been running a Pro Modified since 2001. He has amassed impressive credentials with the car, winning the OSCA Driver of the Year Award in 2005, taking runner-up spots in the 2005 OSCA (Ontario Street Car Association) Points Championship and 2005 CFSC Shootout, along with qualifying number one at several 2005 events.
But for the 2007 PMRA tour, Andreacchi will get behind the wheel and pilot the Stude when necessary.
"If Ray's not there to drive, I'll be in the car," he said.
Now in its third year of operation, The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), Pro Modified Racing Association, has enjoyed strong fan popularity and will present some of the best in Pro Modified racing for 2007.
The PMRA will travel to several drag strips in 2007, including two dates at Toronto Motorsports Park, Lancaster Raceway Park in New York State, Sanair in Quebec, and the Southwestern Ontario track of Grand Bend Motorplex.
In 2006, the tour was a great success, and during the past two seasons of the PMRA, each event finished with a different winner. Joe Boniferro and Kasey Janzen tied in points last year and were crowned co-champions over the other Ontario, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania teams. Wix Filtration Products, Valvoline, a division of Ashland Inc., Uni-Select, and Moen Incorporated will sponsor the PMRA point series in 2007.

About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA):
The Pro Modified Racing Association started late in 2004 and is entering its third year of operation. The PMRA is a self-governing organization, with technical and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). Cars in the PMRA capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is one of drag racing’s most exciting and volatile classes, offering a diverse group of racecars with different types of 2,000-horsepower engines. Combining classic body styles and modern equipment, constructors are permitted, within established rules and parameters, to modify and enhance the cars in both appearance and performance. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 200 miles per hour. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity to see, hear, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".
