[coverattach=1]POMONA, Calif., Nov. 15, 2008 -- Peggy Llewellyn rode her way Saturday into the starting line-up for Sunday's NHRA season-ending Auto Club of Southern California Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
Llewellyn's quarter-mile run of 7.146 seconds at 182.43 mph on the R2B2 Motors Buell came in Saturday's opening round and held on during another unseasonably hot day in Southern California. She added a 7.209-second effort later in the day.
"We got in," she said, wearing a big smile. "We had the wheelie bars lifted a little bit too much on our last run and it kind of carried the wheel a little bit. I turned the wheel and that scuffed the elapsed time. It would have been a lot better run but we are in and that helps. We are going to try to go four rounds tomorrow. We have a tough first-round match with Eddie Krawiec (No. 2, 6.987 at 189.55 mph).
