KENT, Wash. – On a good day, Greg Stanfield’s .011-second reaction time and a solid quarter-mile Pro Stock run would bring a round win. Sunday, however, wasn’t a good day for Stanfield and the Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks GXP team.
“We had a bad day at the office and a bad weekend all around,” Stanfield said following the first-round loss to Rodger Brogdon. “We were ahead of him but couldn’t stay there. We made changes to the car all weekend, and it didn’t respond. Maybe this car doesn’t like this track.”
Stanfield’s time was 7.085 seconds at 153.20 to a winning 6.583 at 209.49.
There was some good news, too. Stanfield officially clinched one of 10 positions in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs that begin next month. He is eighth with 840 points in congested field of five drivers separated by 65 points.
