The Quality Plus Racing Pro Mod team of Rob Sporring and Tony Pontieri heads into the IHRA Amalie North American Nationals as one of the hottest cars on the planet. After a #1 qualifying position at Norwalk, a #2 qualifying spot at Indy, and a 6.03 @ 237 mph blast, the last two races have solidified this new team as a major player.
Tony Pontieri states, "This has been like a dream. We weren't even supposed to go to Indy or Epping but we will ride the wave while we are hot. I have to thank the crew, Mark, Bubs, Frank and Rob for making this whole team a reality. Most especially, Al Billes and Jason McKnight from Al Billes racing. Al has given our team the needed horsepower and tuning tools to be a contender".
With a barrage of 6.00's at Indy, with all runs over 236 mph, this team is the most consistent Pro Mod at this time. Hopefully they can parlay the impressive runs into a win this weekend and keep the ball rolling. Team owner Rob Sporring exclaims, “I’m thrilled. This is what it is all about. It has been the best two weeks of racing in my life. I just hope it continues for a long while”.
The action gets underway September 8, 2006 at 7.00 PM. Stay tuned for all
the details.
